The AIA have appointed Matteo Marchetti as the match official for the Serie A fixture between Sassuolo and Inter Milan.

The Emilian club will host the Nerazzurri at the Mapei Stadium on Saturday night.

While Simone Inzaghi’s men have already secured the Serie A title, their opponents are desperate for points, as they currently find themselves 19th in the league table following an abysmal run. In their last outing, they succumbed at the hands of Fiorentina by five goals to one.

But despite their miserable status, the Neroverdi remain the only side to beat Inter in the league this season. Therefore, the Italian champions will be looking to return the favor.

According to FcInterNews, Marchetti will be the man in charge of the action at the Mapei.

This will be the referee’s 10th appearance as the main match official this season. He has already officiated two matches for the Nerazzurri.

With Marchetti in charge, Inzaghi’s side beat Fiorentina at home by four unanswered goals in the second matchday of the season. They also prevailed 3-0 away from home against Torino in October. Inter were awarded spot-kicks on both occasions.

In his nine previous Serie A appearances of the season, Marchetti brandished 29 yellow cards. He only showed the second yellow on one occasion, and never sent off a player with a straight red card.

Moreover, Galetto and Fontemurato will serve as linesmen with Perenzoni as the fourth official. Paolo Valeri will be in the VAR booth, assisted by Serra.
