Patriots' Ja'Whaun Bentley reveals his favorite slogan from new HC Jerod Mayo
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

For 24 years, the "Do Your Job" slogan was everywhere around Gillette Stadium and was one that Bill Belichick became very well-known for.

However, now that Jerod Mayo has taken over, he decided to switch things up a bit with some different slogans and sayings. Among them, there is one that specifically stood out to three-time captain Ja’Whaun Bentley.

Process. Progress. Payoff.

“That’s one right when we walk in the door. It’s big for us,” Bentley told reporters. “Our biggest thing is not only the slogans, it’s not letting them just be slogans. Everybody has a war cry. Everybody has a slogan they just say every day or write down every day, but do you actually live by it?

“That’s our main thing. How can figure out a way each and every day to live by what we’re saying? Not just letting it be words. So each and every day we’re just constantly looking to get better. Because at the end of the day, the slogans, things like that go far beyond just football. This is life stuff too. So being able to recognize that you’ve gotta — each and every day — make progress, and enjoy that process. Each day you’re making progress is a part of the process. And hopefully at the end of the day, you’re seeing some type of payoff. If you’re not, you go back to the drawing board and start over from scratch. Change what you need to change, but get right back to it.”

And this slogan isn't just in one place. It's scattered throughout the facility.

“It’s a few other spots, too. You’ll be seeing it around. You’ll be hearing it around,” Bentley said on Thursday. “I try to say it as much as I can, too, so hopefully I can trickle it down to you guys.”

During draft week, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe revealed the new slogans that have replaced “The Patriot Way” and “Do Your Job.” Now they read, “We not me,” “Hard work works,” and “Process, Progress, Payoff,”

It's truly a sign of new times in Foxborough.
