Trenton Simpson made the most out of his golden opportunity in the Baltimore Ravens’ home matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Simpson featured in a season-high 26 snaps on defense against the Steelers, which came as the Ravens decided not to play Roquan Smith in the game. The rookie linebacker went on to post career highs across the board, from total tackles (seven) to tackles for loss (two).

Simpson also logged the first sack of his career during the third quarter of the divisional contest.

Patrick Queen shared the field with Simpson in several crucial defensive snaps against Pittsburgh, and he was left impressed with the showing from the former Clemson standout.

"Incredible, proud of [Trenton Simpson]," Queen said after the Ravens’ loss to the Steelers. "Couldn’t be happier for him. Great dude. He had me nervous; we were going over all the calls and stuff, and he was just asking questions trying to figure out everything. But that’s why you’re seeing the way he’s played.

"He’s just on top of all his stuff. Dynamic, might be faster than me."

As mentioned, Smith did not feature in this edition of the Ravens and Steelers rivalry, but he did play the role of a coach for Simpson during the game.

"Every time I came to the sideline, Roquan was giving me new tips to what to look for, formation tendencies and what to know, what to expect," Simpson said after the game. "So, it’s great having a guy like that, a great leader, and he definitely played a huge role in my success today, getting ready for the game and also out there [during] the game today."

Simpson tallied 13 total tackles and one quarterback hit over 15 regular season games played this year.
